The Street of Unveiled Stories

Walking down Sampsonia Way is like strolling through an urban public library and seeing a visual narrative alongside the written word, neighbors’ garage doors, and the stray neighborhood cat. Walking by these expressions of freedom,  Sampsonia Way of North Side, Pittsburgh becomes a public library. As of November 2021, Sampsonia Way is home to five artist residences - Comma House, Jazz House, Pittsburgh-Burma House, Winged House, and House Poem. These “house publications” share the stories of their creators publicly for anyone to see just by strolling down the street. On the right side, each house publication is lined up on their shelf of Sampsonia Way, waiting for a curious reader to indulge in their narrative. Their façades contain different interpretations of the creators’ artwork paralleled with their literary text. To indulge in these narratives, follow the link below to walk down City of Asylum/Pittsburgh’s Sampsonia Way.
